Sarum Decorative and Fine Arts Society (Sarum DFAS) is based in Salisbury, Wiltshire and is a Member Society of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS), belonging to the Wessex Area.
The aim of the Society is to provide an appreciation and study of the decorative and fine arts, as well as making a contribution towards the conservation and preservation of our heritage through Heritage Volunteering, Church Recording and Young Arts.
We enjoy lectures from first class speakers, experts in their field. They cover a wide range of topics in the fine and applied arts, including architecture, furniture, music, ceramics, paintings and many others.
In addition, three or four visits a year are arranged to historic houses, museums and other places of interest in Britain, which often link in with the lecture topics.Overseas visits are arranged most years and there is also one Study Day to look at a subject in greater depth. A most successful Study Day was held in November 2011 on "Islamic Art and Architecture" led by Sarah Searight. Over 40 members enjoyed an enlightening day discovering the history of Islamic Art, its buildings and gardens.
